Carisa’s Celebrate & Decorate

Hi everyone! Today I want to share with you a fun way that I like to dress up plain gift bags using patterned paper, dies and stamps. I like to pick up plain gift bags for less than a dollar at my local craft store. They come in a variety of sizes and colors. I usually stick with white or kraft to make decorating a lot easier. The 12 x 12-inch collections make this project even easier because you have stickers and embellishments to match your theme.

I started with an adorable paper collection from October Afternoon called All Boy. The patterns are cute, bright and playful. I love the little journaling cards; they were perfect for creating my focal point. I began by cutting a piece of patterned paper slightly smaller than the front of the bag to leave a small white border. Then I placed some ribbon on top of the paper panel to be a guide as I began to create the focal point of the bag. I die-cut a rectangle from bold patterned paper; I then adhered it to gray cardstock and trimmed a small border to create a mat. I like to mat my patterns so they don’t get lost. I did the same with the journaling card. Then I took some chipboard stars from a different collection and scattered them around securing them with adhesive dots.

To finish, I created a tag using a baby outfit die and sentiment stamp. I absolutely love how this bag turned out and with quite a few friends expecting babies this spring, I will have to make a few of these including some girl-themed ones!

Thanks for stopping by today! Do you like to create pretty packaging using your favorite paper-crafting products, too? I’d love to hear about your favorite ways to take paper crafting into gift wrap or party planning!

What a terrific idea. I sometimes put a little embelishments on my bags, but this idea is even better. Thanks. Think I will make some up ahead of time.

Thank you! Yes, these actually are very fast to create and would be fun to take an afternoon to make a bunch to have on hand. I should probably do that, too! 😉
