Carisa’s CardMaker Tip
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Hi everyone! Carisa from Inky Fairy Designs joining you today and I’m excited to share a card-making tip … or two—there is an extra one in the video below!

Vellum is definitely trending in the card-making community. I am seeing it everywhere and I love using it on my cards to create a sheer, soft layer over patterned paper or watercolor backgrounds. However, I am asked all the time, what is the best way to adhere vellum? Due to the see-through nature we love, there is also the problem of using adhesive that will not show because let’s face it, no one likes to see glue on a card we’ve just created for someone special.

I have found the perfect solution with adhesive sheets from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®. They come in three sizes: 4 x 6 inches, 6 x 12 inches and 12 x 12 inches. You get full-coverage adhesive from edge to edge plus you can use it with dies and punches without having to worry about it gumming up. I used the 6 x 12-inch size today and you have to see it to believe it but the adhesive becomes completely invisible when you adhere the vellum to your card! Once you remove the backing sheet, there is no stringy mess of adhesive either. It is one of my go-to methods of using vellum on my cards now!

Here is a close-up view and you can’t even tell there is adhesive holding the vellum to the card. There is also no need for strategic embellishing as well ? come on, you know you’ve done it, too! I filmed my process making this card for you and I have included an extra sneaky tip in the video. You’ll have to watch it to find out what it is and leave me a comment below to tell me if you do that, too! I hope you will hop over to my YouTube Channel to watch or watch it right here.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed these tips. I’d love to hear how you attach vellum to your cards. If you’ve never used vellum, do you think you will start now that the guesswork of how to adhere it has been removed?
