?We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.?

-Maya Angelou

Butterflies are beautiful creatures but the process a caterpillar goes through to become a butterfly is not so beautiful. I love the symbolism of a butterfly’s journey because it serves as a reminder that many times when we think our story’s over, an even more beautiful story is beginning to emerge.

As soon as I saw the Destiny Accessory Sheet from The Paper Loft, I knew I wanted to create a card of encouragement. I also knew I wanted to add some sparkle and dimension to the butterfly’s wings.

Side View

I used a craft knife to carefully cut around the edges of the wings to pop them up and then used dimensional pearlescent paint and some glitter to add some shimmer.

Supplies used: Shades of Gray Silverplate patterned paper and Destiny Accessory Sheet from The Paper Loft; coastal cabana and soft sky cardstock from Stampin’ Up!; white opal Liquid Pearls and glitter from Ranger Industries Inc.; paper trimmer from Fiskars; adhesive dots from Elmer’s; adhesive runner from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®.
