Summer Escape
![]() |
Summer vacations and photos go hand in hand. Besides using these wonderful photos to share with friends and family, why not also make use of them within your card creations. Our free project by designer Kathleen Paneitz does just that! Something as simple as a pair of sandals, flip-flops or even beautiful shells can become a great focal point on your card.
Design by Kathleen Paneitz
Materials
- Card stock: white, blue textured and light brown
- Vacation-themed stickers "relax" definition
- Metal feet plaque
- "leave it all behind" rub-on transfer
- Sandals in the sand photo
- Antique white acrylic paint
- Sandpaper
- Envelope template to fit a 6 1/8 x 4 5/8-inch card
- Foam paintbrush
- 3/16-inch-wide double-sided tape
- Glue stick
Cut a 6 1/8 x 9 1/4-inch piece of white card stock; score and fold in half. Glue a 6 1/8 x 4 5/8-inch piece of blue card stock to card front.
Trim photo to a 4 3/8 x 3 1/4-inch rectangle; layer onto white card stock, trimming a small border. Glue in upper left corner of card. Attach a vacation-themed sticker in lower right corner of card. Glue "relax" definition in lower left corner, overlapping corner of photo. Transfer "leave it all behind" below definition.
Use foam paintbrush to apply a very light coat of antique white paint onto metal plaque. Let dry and adhere plaque in upper right corner of card using double-sided tape.
For envelope, use template to trace and cut an envelope from light brown card stock. Score and fold envelope flaps; adhere side and bottom flaps together. Lightly sand all edges. Attach vacation-themed stickers in lower left corner on front of envelope.
