Flower Fold

This cheery card should help to put some spring in your step even if Mother Nature may not be quite ready to warm things up in your area of the country. This delightful card is a perfect example of how traditional and nontraditional can partner beautifully.

The type of fold used is a traditional style; however, the design has been assembled in a slightly different way. How simple can it get? With just a few folds, a flower can be created along with a couple of great corner accents.

Design by Sharon Reinhart

Materials

  • Blue cardstock
  • Patch of Posies printed paper
  • Silver metallic peel-off stickers: stem with leaves, 3/16-inch dot
  • Tape: adhesive foam, double-sided
  • Paper adhesive

Project note: Adhere elements using paper adhesive unless instructed otherwise.

Cut five 2 x 2-inch squares from printed paper. Referring to instructions and diagrams below, fold each into a Basic Triangle.

Referring to diagrams provided, position each triangle on point as shown in Fig. 1 and fold as follows. Working with top layer only, fold over left side (Fig. 2) until outer edge aligns with vertical center (Fig. 3). Repeat on opposite side (Fig. 4).

Cut a 3 1/4-inch square from printed paper; cut a 3-inch square from blue cardstock. Center and adhere cardstock square to printed-paper square; center and adhere squares to card front.

Referring to photo throughout, adhere remaining folded motifs in lower corners of card, edges even.

Adhere tea bag folded flower to center cardstock square with foam mounting tape.

Adhere stem-and-leaves sticker to card; adhere dot sticker to flower at base of petals.
