CardMaker Card Pattern of the Month: December


Ornamental Joy

  • Cardstock: cream, dark red, black
  • Stamps: Ornament set, Cover-a-Card Music, Cover-a-Card Flourishes
  • Chalk ink pads: dark gray, dark red, light brown
  • Alcohol-based-ink markers: colorless blender, dark red
  • 22 inches 1/2-inch-wide dark red/white-dot ribbon
  • Gold photo hanger
  • 3 black small round brads
  • Die templates: Classic Scalloped Rectangles LG (#S4-143), Deckle Mega Rectangles SM (#S5-014), Labels Nine (#S4-233)
  • Die-cutting machine
  • Piercing tool
  • Craft sponge
  • Small adhesive dots
  • Adhesive foam squares
  • Paper adhesive

Form a 7 x 5-inch top-folded card from dark red cardstock.

Using light brown ink, stamp Cover-a-Card Music onto a 6 3/4 x 4 3/4-inch piece of cream cardstock as shown; ink edges light brown. Adhere a 6 3/4 x 3/4-inch strip of black cardstock to cream piece 1 inch above bottom edge.

Die-cut a 7/8 x 7/8-inch Labels Nine tag from cream cardstock. Using black ink, stamp "joy" onto tag; ink edges light brown. Pierce a hole through top of tag; slide a black brad through photo hanger and tag hole; secure brad closed.

Wrap ribbon around black card-stock strip as shown. Slide photo hanger onto ribbon; tie into a bow and trim ends. Secure bow to black strip using an adhesive dot. Adhere cream card-stock piece centered to card front. Pierce a hole in upper two corners; attach brads.

Die-cut a 2 5/8 x 5 1/4-inch scalloped rectangle from dark red cardstock. Using foam squares, attach to card front as shown.

Die-cut a 2 1/8 x 4 1/2-inch deckle rectangle from cream cardstock. Using black ink, stamp three ornaments onto rectangle; color with dark red marker. Stamp bows onto tops of ornaments using dark red ink.

In the same manner, stamp three more ornaments onto a piece of cream card sock; color with dark red marker. Color Cover-a-Card Flourish stamp with colorless blender and immediately stamp onto colored ornaments. Cut out round part of colored ornaments. Using foam squares, attach over ornaments on deckle rectangle. Use foam squares to attach deckle rectangle to card front as shown.
