Hi everyone! It’s Jennie here with my “Outside the Box” post. This is one of my favorite features as we are challenged to take a card that has been published in CardMaker magazine and recreate it with supplies we have on hand.
I used this National Relaxation Day card by Tami Mayberry for inspiration, which was published in the September 2006 issue of CardMaker. I love the sketch design and layers of patterned paper and chose to incorporate both aspects into my card.
Since the original card was made six years ago, I wanted to bring it up to date with new patterned papers and wooden pieces, a current trendy product.
Here is my new version of the card:
I layered the patterned papers in a similar fashion and used the journaling card elements in the back of the 6 x 6-inch paper pad for my focal point, which is stamped with a sentiment.
I added some wooden elements to point the viewer to the sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope this inspires you to get out your older issues of CardMaker magazine and recreate your favorite cards.
Supplies used: Cardstock and All Occasion Tags stamp set from Gina K. Designs; Harvest Lane 6 x 6 Paper Pad from Simple Stories; wood veneer shapes from Studio Calico; corner rounder punch from Stampin’ Up!; Scor-Tape from Scor-Pal.
