Handmade Gift-Card Holders
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Today, known as Black Friday, is the day that kicks off the holiday shopping season. While I love to shop, I’ve never been much of a Black Friday shopper. I usually end up staying inside and decorating for Christmas to avoid the crowds that have been up and about since the middle of the night. Or, I make myself a cup of hot chocolate, sit down with my laptop and buy all my gifts online.

Whether you’re shopping online or you’re braver than I am and you’re out among the crowds today, more than likely you’ll pick up a gift card or two or three or four. Did you know that gift cards rank as the top holiday gift, and that 57.7% of consumers have gift cards on their wish list this season?

While gift cards are popular, if you’re like me sometimes they feel a little impersonal. One way to add personality to a gift card is in the way it’s presented. Instead of sliding it inside a ready-made envelope, try creating a unique holder like the Ribbit Open! Gift-Card Holder designed by Trudy Sjolander. You can find instructions to make this on page 76 in our November issue. In fact, we’ve dedicated an entire feature in the November issue to gift cards and tags. So whether you need something classy and elegant or cute and whimsical, you’ll find something for the occasion.

Taking the time to make a special presentation will make the recipient feel extra-special!
